Waipio Valley, Hawaii (4 views)
The Big Island’s tallest waterfall, Hiilawe Falls cascades down 1,300 feet in the back of Waipio.
Waipio Valley is a mile wide at the coast and almost six miles deep.
On either side of the valley are cliffs reaching almost 2000 feet in elevation
And, of course, the trees. I hope you’ve enjoyed the four views from todays visit to Waipio Valley on the northern Hamakua Coast of the Big Island.
The most important thing is the thing most easily forgotten.
Kilauea Hot Lava
Rain Forest Hike in Volcanoes National Park
We went on a 4 mile hike today which required a trek through a rain forest to get to the crater floor of Kilauea in Volcanoes National Park. While
walking on the crater floor, you pass the still steaming openings from the last eruption and can feel the scorching heat if you put your hand too
close. The rain forest walk was definitely more serene.
