Organic Art

I went out to see the Watt’s Towers yesterday. I have been thinking a lot lately about how I spend my time and what does a lifetime’s accumulation of hours amount to. Well, in the case of Simon Rodia, it amounted to the lasting legacy of the Watt’s Towers. Rodia spent all his spare time for 33 years creating this art piece. The project was started when the man was in his forties. I wonder if he was having a mid-life crisis? The age seems ripe for a reflection of the meaning of life.

Theresa (Another View)

alesi_20090710_12455_blog675

Here is another photo from my shoot with Theresa. We were supposed to shoot in another location but an arguement with a very pushy homeless man, who was at odds with us photographing on his bridge, ended in a stalemate. We retreated and ended up downtown. Another location I wanted to use in a shoot recently was an elevator. So we ended up over at the Driskill Hotel fighting a different battle. People constantly getting on and off the elevator. It was another futile situation but I really do like this image.

Theresa was a perfect accomplice who was able to roll with whatever arose. I hope we get another shot in the future to shoot the photo we set out to get initially.

A very sweet dog indeed

pitbull

So, I found this wonderful fellow wandering on the streets alone at 11pm. He seemed destined to be hit by a car on the very dark road with lots of speeding cars so we opened the door and he jumped in. Now he is at my house waiting. I flyered the area where I found him, ran him by the shelter to find out he wasn’t chipped and no one was looking for him. As my place already has a very established cat who has his run of things and frankly I don’t think would stand a chance if challenged by this guy I want to find him some sort of living situation. If you are a person with a fenced in yard who could foster him for a few days or is looking to adopt a super friendly, middle aged american pit bull please let me know. This guy is so nice, so great with people and my heart goes out to him. Please feel free to pass this along to whomever you think might be able to help. I’m putting off bringing him to the shelter because he would only have 3 days there before they made a decision to keep him or euthanize.

welcome to my newer blog

I just finished the transfer to my new wordpress blog. I have been jealous of people using this format instead of blogger for awhile now. The major difference is that the images are bigger and, as a photographer, that pretty much makes my day. The other major benefit is the ability to have categories for the blogs. So now you can view all the posts for a particular category. And lastly, the blog address is now a part of my website instead of blogspot so please update your bookmarks to www.500poundleon.com/blog.

Well take a look around and drop me a comment if you want.
